The Institute

The Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS) was started as extension department of St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi in 1955 with the objective of training young graduates for Social Work, Personnel Management, Business Managemenrt and Rural Management.
In 1973, the Institute was registred as a separate educational society under the Society Act, and in 1978, it moved to its own campus. Over the years, XISS has developed its own distinct identity, and intends to train ‘Professionals with a Difference’, i.e., professionals who are attuned to the deeper aspirations of the common people for justice, who see their training as a preparation for true service in society and who believe that their own human growth and happiness is intrinsically linked with development.

Infrastructure

Well-stocked library containing 32,000 books, journals, encyclopedias, magazines; Computer Lab with more than 100 terminals; 330 Laptops; Wi-Fi Campus; 24 Hours Internet Connectivity through VSAT/Broadband; Classrooms equipped with latest Teaching Aids including LCD/Multimedia, Projector, Laptop. OHP & Sound System; Auditorium, Conference & Seminar Rooms; Staff and Faculty Quarters and Separate Hostels for Boys & Girls; Cafeteria for Faculty Members, Students & Guests of the institute; Play Ground & Common Rooms, etc.

Applications are invited for the following Two-year Full-time Post Graduate Courses in: -

1. Personnel Management (PM)
2. Rural Development (RD)
3. Information Management (IM)
4. Finance Management
5. Marketing Management

Candidates can opt for maximum of two courses.
