Management of Globally Distributed Work
April 15, 2007 - December 20, 2008

Previous

The curriculum has been developed in consultation with the major employers, technology MNCs, and software houses to ensure that it meets their programmatic needs. The end result is a program that combines a full understanding of the needs and capabilities of the management and technology professionals and their employers, and the International Business and cross-cultural education strengths of the international partners.

Program Frame Work

Learning in AMPM has three components: -

1. Theme: This set of courses is oriented towards managing with a Global perspective. Some of the courses offered are - Managing a Global Corporation, Cross-cultural Management, International Economics, Global Marketing, Global Risk Management, and others.

2. Context: In this set of courses, participants explore and new concepts are learnt in the first set as they play out in different contexts of Europe, China and East Asia and high-tech global business based in silicon valley, apart from India. Some of the courses offered are - Chinese and Asian Economy, Indian Society in Transition, Hi-Tech Marketing, and others.

3. Practice: In this component participants, choose an issue, project or theme their company is interested in exploring in detail. They undertake research and data gathering, perform analysis and produce a report under supervision of a faculty from one of the participating institutions. It is expected that the quality of report will be comparable to a top-level consultants' report on the chosen issue. The student's work will be evaluated by a panel of faculty who may offer suggestions for further development. It is expected that students will through this effort in some measure provide value to companies who have sponsored them and lay a basis for future work.

The residency sessions at locations in Asia, Europe, and North America have the participants, international faculty, and corporate executives interacting intensely over a period of 10 days. During these sessions, learning is through instructor-led classroom discussions and field visits at each location. This is supplemented by distance modules over following 12 weeks. Indicative list of courses at four locations follows: -

Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India.
