The Institute

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a deemed university that works towards the promotion of people-centered sustainable development and an equitable and democratic society. The TISS hosts 5 dynamic schools, 4 independent centres, and 10 popular post-graduate programmes, among others.
The institute is home to approximately 120 faculty members, who are involved in teaching, research, policy-making and institution-building. They are supported by 205 technical and administrative staff members, and reach out to nearly 750 students. The institute was accorded a 5-Star rating by NAAC in 2002.

The Programme

The M.A. in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations is a full-time, two-year programme. The programme is conducted by the School of Management and Labour Studies in the Mumbai Campus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Eligibility

  • A Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirement of 15 years of formal education) from a recognised university in any discipline.

    Note: Students who will complete the final year of Bachelor's degree examination by June 21, 2008, are also eligible to apply provided they have successfully completed their first and second years, if the degree course is of three years; and the first, second and third years, if the degree course is of four years on the day of applying for the programme.

    Selection Procedure

    Those satisfying the eligibility requirements will be assessed for selection through the following: -

  • Academic Background (30 Marks)

  • Essay Test (60 Marks)

  • Group Discussion (40 Marks)

  • Personal Interview (70 Marks)

    Test Centres

    Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram.
    The TISS reserves the right to change or cancel test centre at its discretion.
