Master of Business Economics (MBE)
Admissions 2009

Introduction

Founded in 1973, the Department of Business Economics pioneered the Masters Program in Business Economics (MBE), patterned on a similar program conducted by Harvard Business School.
Since then, the Department has established itself as one of India’s leading centers of excellence in business education and research. The Department also administers the Bachelors, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in this discipline, and has also initiated the same programs for many other universities.

Master of Business Economics programme, with its emphasis on adding value to business with application of economic principles, performs the unique role of bridging the gap between theoretical economics and business administration. The course imparts economic skills and problem-solving competencies necessary to deal with challenges posed by the increasingly complex and rapidly changing business environment.

Eligibility

  • Graduates / Post Graduates in any discipline with at least 50% marks (at least 45% for SC / ST / OBC / Physically Challenged / Children or Widows of Officers & Men of the Armed Forces including Para-Military Personnel killed or disabled in action at wars) at Bachelor's level from the University of Delhi or any other University recognized as equivalent there to.

  • Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor's Degree examination in 2009.

  • Candidates should be at least 20 years of age before October 1, 2009.

    Note: Candidates must ensure that they satisfy the above eligibility criteria before applying. If, at any stage of the admission process, a candidate is found ineligible, his/her application will be cancelled immediately - no queries / clarifications shall be entertained in this regard later on. The department's decision in this regard will be final.

    Selection Criteria

    Admission to the 72 seats of the Department involves: -

  • Stage 1: All India Entrance Test

  • Stage 2: Group Discussion & Interview

  • Stage 3: Final Results declared taking into account candidates' marks in Stages 1 & 2, as well as past academic record.

    Entrance Test

    The Written Test will be of two-hours duration, comprising 180 multiple-choice questions in: -

  • Mathematical Comprehension (covering Basic Arithmetic, Algebra, Calculus, Basic Statistics & Data Analysis)

  • Logical Reasoning

  • Awareness of Indian Economy & Business

  • English
