3rd Convocation Ceremony held at IIM Rohtak

The Indian Institute of Management,Rohtak held its third Annual Convocation at its campus here on Saturday, marking the graduation of the third batch of the flagship two-year full-time Post Graduate Programme in Management..
122 students were conferred diplomas on the occasion.
The convocation was declared open by Mr. Ravi Kant, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Rohtak (vice-chairman, Tata Motors), who said that the four key characteristics that the students should embody as leaders were people orientation, integrity, openness and an enquiring mind.He mentioned that in spite of increased size of the batches, IIM Rohtak attracted well-known companies for both final and summer placements. He also mentioned IIM Rohtak’s collaboration agreements with Singapore Management University and California State University, Fullerton.
Professor P. Rameshan, director, IIM Rohtak released the convocation report and spoke about some of the awards conferred upon the Institute and its members namely the DNA-Stars of the Industry Group Innovative B-school award, ‘Eminent Director of Leading Institute of India’ award and Director’s membership of the First Court of the Central University of Haryana and the Society of IIM Lucknow. He said that it was IIM-R's aspiration to develop its students as true citizens embodying impeccable professional integrity and unparalleled social commitment as well as managers with an excellent sense of purpose with respect to their corporate mission. He also spoke about the placements for the batch highlighting placement offers from well-known brands such as Citibank, ICICI, HSBC, DCB Bank, Cognizant, Infosys, Mphasis, Wipro, Larson & Toubro and Mother Dairy.
The chief guest on the occasion was Mr. Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission and former chairman of BCG(India) said- ‘Each of us has work to do to reform institutions we are in charge of, and in which we work. Some of us must lead and reform business corporations and other capitalist institutions. Others amongst us must lead and reform governments and government institutions. And many others must lead and reform institutions for democratic representation: political parties, civil society organizations, and labor unions.’ He asked students to strive together towards the heaven of freedom: a country in which every citizen has all three freedoms: political, social, and economic.
The passing out batch will be leaving behind a legacy in terms of the Institute’s annual management festival, college committees, clubs, and numerous other laurels. They have contributed significantly in the institute building process by organizing events like Run for the Girl Child Mini-Marathon and the Annual Management Conclave. PGP03’s most notable achievements include those at the IE Business Plan award, Mahindra War Room 2012, IIM Indore’s social business plan competition- Kalpavriksha, IIM-L’s annual cultural and sports event-Varchasva and Deloitte’s War Of Bands among others. A total of 800 guests attended the event.
