IIM, Ahmedabad Reaffirms its Commitment to conduct Summer Placements Through the Cohort Based Process

Reaffirming its commitment to ensuring an excellent and fruitful recruitment experience for both, the students and companies, IIM Ahmedabad is pleased to announce that it will conduct its summer placements through the Cohort-based process.
Based on the positive recruiter feedback for the cohort-based final placements in March 2010, and much internal deliberations, the cohort-based process was deemed the best way forward for the upcoming summer placements.
In the cohort process, companies will be divided into groups called ‘Cohorts’ based on multiple parameters such as roles, locations, salaries etc and several cohorts will be held in one Cluster. The cohorts would be scheduled based on the preference of the students.
Interviews in the first cluster are scheduled to start from 12th November 2010 and will thereafter proceed on weekends until all the students are placed in the roles of their choice. However, because of academic scheduling constraints and the Institute’s golden jubilee celebrations, interviews for a couple of clusters in the first week will be held on a few weekdays.
Based on past experience, it has been observed that the cohort process is very student-friendly as it reduces the stress on the students and allows them more preparation time between clusters. Movin Jain, the Recruitment Secretary, said, “During the finals, the students were far more relaxed and better prepared due to the breaks they got between two clusters. We wish to provide a similar experience to our students during the summers process as well and help both, recruiters and students, make better decisions.”
The cohort-based process also facilitates a better match between student and the recruiter as they have longer interaction time to understand each other.
