IIM Calcutta is known for impressive, nationally and internationally acclaimed faculty. In order to bring their ideas in public domain and to the new aspirants who could get chances to see them in action, the Institute has come up with new initiative launch of Insight, a series of interviews of faculty members.

Each interview will last for 8-10mins and will feature a faculty member speaking on a topic from his/her domain of expertise.  Five such episodes covering contemporary issues in management are being planned this year. The interviews are shot using high definition cameras, and will be broadcast through the official Youtube channel of IIM Calcutta (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m72rmK5Q8ag). The PGP-student run External Relations cell of IIM Calcutta would coordinate the initiative on a regular basis.

In the first episode, Prof. Anup K Sinha (Dept of Economics) is interviewed on the recent developments in the Indian economy. He speaks on the causes of the stagnation, and the possible solutions to the problem. Prof. Chandra Deep Mitra, (21st Batch Alumni and CEO of PipalMajik) speaks on contemporary marketing education in the second episode. The few others are in the pipeline.

These interviews will also be linked through an appropriate section of IIM Calcuttas website in future.

This is a commendable effort by the external relations cell of IIM Calcutta. This will showcase the thinking of IIMC faculty on contemporary issues. I hope that the external relations cell will be able to produce one episode per month, says Prof. Ashok Banerjee, the Dean (New Initiatives and External Relations) of IIM Calcutta.

The faculty of IIM Calcutta has always been special. Be it at research or at corporate consultancy, they are respected for their expertise. This is an attempt to take their knowledge and thoughts to the general public and to the industry. the external relations cell of the institute said.
