Jaipuria institute of Management Indore hosts analysis session on Union Budget 2012-13

DEMYSTIFYING UNION BUDGET 2012-13 held at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore on March 24th 2012 provided a dynamic and democratic platform for the youth to wear their thinking hats and present their views with fresh perspectives on the Union Budget, 2012-2013..
A unique initiative by Jaipuria-Indore, to bring the youth at the fore front for discussion and analysis of matters of significant importance to the nation, economy and society at large. The event witnessed a participation of more than 200 people, including industry experts, academicians and students from leading management institutes such as PIMR, IPS Academy, Acropolis, Amity, IIPS; to name a few.
The guest of honor was Mr. Manish Upadhaya Associate Business Editor in Premier Hindi Daily Nai Dunia. He made debut as a journalist in 1994 from Naidunia and working there, he has a special command over business news coverage. He also shared his insight on BUDGET 2012-2013 and encouraged all the participant.
The seminar was divided into two segments. The inaugural session included a welcome and keynote address by the Director of the Institute -Dr. Prabhat Pankaj. He set the tone of the event by presenting a different thought on how the budget is not just an intellectual exercise but is also about balancing the books and a practical accounting effort.
The first half included A 'Post-Budget Analysis' competition. Students voiced their opinions on the budget and gave well researched presentations on various sectors such as Automotive Industry, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Education and overall impact of the budget on the nation and important stakeholders. This was followed by an interactive question and answer session by the expert panel of judges such as Mr. Sandeep Porwal, Mr. Anurag Joshi, Dr. Manish Satlani, Dr. Vivek Khushwaha, Prof. Kaniyya Ahuja and Ms Apeksha Jain.
The enthused response by the participants added further vigor to the whole experience. Participants; Khusboo and Shalaka, remarked As Budget is an important and vast topic, we as youth, got a good opportunity to learn how to analyze and understand the budget. Jaipuria Institute of Management-Indore is a good college, the faculty, as well as the students were really helpful.
The second half of the event was dedicated to a forum of experts from different industries. The panel comprised of eminent names such as Mr. Arif Shaikh- CEO - EWDL(Entertainment World Development). He gave a fantastic perspective on the Impact of Union Budget 2012-13 on FDI, Retail, FMCG, Real Estate and Infrastructure- drawing analogies from iconic characters such as Robin Hood. Dr. Ganesh Kawadia Head School of Economics, DAVV Indore, spoke on Impact of Union Budget 2012-13 on Economy and Agriculture.
Mr. B.P. Inani, a chartered accountant, provided an insightful thought on Impact of Union Budget on Capital Market and Corporate Finance, Mr. Ashish Goyal - CA and High Court Advocate discussed the Impact of Union Budget on Direct Taxation. Mr. Arvind Singh Chawla - C.A. presented his views on the Impact of the Union Budget 2012-13 on Indirect Taxes, giving relevant insights on service tax.
The speakers presented a sharp analysis on a wide variety of topics such as, Capital Market, Corporate Finance, Real Estate, Manufacturing, Retail, FDI and Economy Overall. This was followed by an open house, to quench thirst to know and share more, while clarifying doubts.
The winners, Nisarga Agarwal, Sravanti Ivaturi and Chandra Pal Singh were awarded with attractive cash prizes and all participants were given a Certificate of Participation.
The intellectual experiences ignited the young minds to further analyze and answer the big question Pranab da ke Pitara se - Umeedein Ya Nirasha?.
