Kshitij 2010 at XLRI – Back with Big Bang!!!

TINPLATE Kshitij 2010’, an Inter School Talent Search Competition organised by the CII-Yi XLRI Net, took place on 21st August 2010, at TATA Auditorium, XLRI. It was aimed at unearthing those hidden talents in Jamshedpur who haven’t found a representation at this scale before and thus provide them with an opportunity to learn, compete and showcase their skills.


‘Tinplate Kshitij 2010’ was bigger than the previous editions in terms of participation. The event comprised of 3 rounds – Quiz, Painting and a Cultural Competition (both singing and dancing) and the total participation was more than 350 students accompanied with 60 teachers from 30 schools in and around Jamshedpur. It was the biggest event of its kind in the history of Jamshedpur. Total prizes worth Rs.35000/- were awarded to the winners of all four individual events and also for the ‘Best School Overall’ – all events combined.


The talent and skill exhibited by the students in the painting competition was overwhelming. In its pursuit to meet its objectives, CII Yi XLRI Net believes that not only providing an equitable platform is necessary, but the creation of awareness is quintessential. In this purview, the best paintings will be used for being Greeting Cards’ cover during the coming festive season. The Cultural Competition was also filled with raving performances in both singing and dancing.


From “Jai Ho” to “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” and from Western dance to “Tribal Folk Dance”, the passion and enthusiasm showed by the students was phenomenal. The audience, comprising of the school students, teachers, students and faculty of XLRI, were all dancing to the tune of the performance by the students. The Overall winner in the ‘Best School’ category was Gyandeep School and the runners-up were the students of AIWC Academy of Excellence. All the participating schools were provided to and fro Bus facility from XLRI to their respective school campuses. Being a full day event, all students were provided with breakfast, lunch and snacks. All students were given a text-book each, which was a result of the commitment of XLRI students to contribute to a noble cause.

(BSNL), Tayo Rolls, Pragati (TATA Steel) and Big FM. The event was graced by Smt. Himani Pande (IAS), DC, Jamshedpur, Mr. Bushen Raina – Director, TCIL and Mr. A. K. Pahi, GM, BSNL.


The CII-Yi (Young Indians) Net at XLRI is an initiative to empower the students to take up socially responsible and development projects in the areas of education, employability, environment, youth affairs and health sectors. Established only a year ago, it today comprises of 26 team members across all management programmes (including Executive Programmes) under the leadership of Mr. Harsh Jhawar and the guidance of Prof. M G Jomon, who are united in their journey of creating a brighter future for the Indian youth.
