SIBM Bangalore flooded with fun on Colossus 2011

For a change, Electronic City Phase I became the ‘happening’ part of the city of Bangalore. Colleges from all over India came and participated in SIBM Bangalore’s annual fest ‘Colossus 2011’.

The corporates weren’t behind either, with teams from organizations in and around Electronic City (like Infosys) participating in the event.

The day started with SIBM Bangalore’s Student President Varun Gupta officially opening the event in the college auditorium. Keeping the spirit of learning alive and moving, the opening event of the day was Salsa lessons. This was followed by a LAN Gaming event – wherein gaming enthusiasts from all over the city were pitted against each other in Counter Strike contest. Then ‘Club Raging Demons,’ city’s bike daredevils, performed mind boggling stunts for the crowd. MTV, with the current Roadies host VJ Siddharth, was there to cover the entire performance. The channel is here to shoot 5 episodes of its show ‘Campus Beats’ in the two days.

To not let the fun settle down, many students from SIBM conducted on-spot events like Tag It (a branding competition), Psychedelic (a puzzle competition) and Ready-Zoom-Click (photography). This was followed by the first management event of the day – ‘Callidus’ (the HR event). The event was won by Welingkar Mumbai. After brains came way for brawn, with Street Basketball. Then was time for a delicious mix of humor and creativity – with Mad Ads.

At 3 PM, the second management event of the day ‘The State Bank of India Colossus Quiz’ began. More than 40 teams competed for the top prize, but the final winners were Christ Bangalore. XIME Bangalore was close second.

Then began the cultural extravaganza; top teams from numerous colleges competed in the Group Dance competition ‘Razzmatazz’. The day ended with the fashion show competition judged by TV celebrity (and ex-Big Boss participant) Shweta Tiwari.

But the first day was just a small percentage of what Colossus 2011 is all about. February 27, 2011 – the second day of the colossal event – has a lot in store. There are Salsa Workshop, LAN Gaming, Drammatica (dramatics competition), Hell Riders (bike stunts performance) and Street Basketball finals. Apart from that, there are plenty of on-spot fun events to keep the participants and visitors engaged throughout the event. But the colossal attractions of the day are: MTV Campus Beat – Tic-Tac Games, Radio Gaga (an RJ Hunt contest in association with Radio City), the grand finale of the flagship event ‘Symbiosis Business Bazaar’ and a special performance by the celebrated rock band ‘Thermal and a quarter’. The rock concert is organized in association with the Youth United NGO (for special children). But more than all of this, the SIBM Bangalore team has tons and tons of fun in store for all visitors.
