SPJIMR Mumbai Industry Integration committee conducts second round of industry visit

After conducting the first round of industry visits on September 13, 2012, the Industry Integration committee at SPJIMR organized the second set of industry visits to Tata Motors, Pune and Mahindra & Mahindra, Mumbai on September 27, 2012. The immense learning which happened the first time motivated the committee to extend this program so that more students can gain advantage of the Industry exposure.
One batch of students was sent to Mahindra & Mahindra Kandivali Plant of Mumbai accompanied by Dr Sajeev George. Mr. Sunil Rane from M&M facilitated the whole visit for the students. Information sharing about Mahindra & Mahindra group was followed by the understanding of the various operations at the plant. This included the assembly line of their automotive product - Bolero pickup. In the Q&A session all the queries of the students regarding the manufacturing facility were solved.
The second batch of students with Prof. Jayaraman went to Tata Motors, Pune where the students were shown the assembly line of mini truck Xenon, Tata Indica, Tata Indigo, Tata Safari and their upcoming Tata Storme. The students were shown vehicle testing tracks, the power backup generator area and the section where customized MUVs are made for the Indian Army. The visit concluded by a Q&A session and gave a deep insight to the shop floor operations of such large manufacturing units.
The Industry Integration committee at SPJIMR, mentored by Prof Jiban Mukhopadhyay and Dr. Indu Niranjan, forms a part of the ADMAP (Assessment and Development of Managerial and Administrative Potential) Program at SPJIMR. ADMAP is one of the unique pedagogic initiatives taken at SPJIMR which aims at promoting learning by doing. The committee organizes Industry visits, CEO lectures, Industry related events and live projects for the batch.
