SPJIMR students get real-life insides in Management Accounting from Former H.U.L Finance director

Mr. D Sundaram, former finance director and board member of Hindustan Unilever Limited gave a guest lecture at SPJIMR.
He is currently the Vice- Chairman and Managing Director of TVS Capital Funds Ltd (a Private Equity Asset Manager). He also is an Independent Director on the Boards of various organizations like State Bank of India GSK Pharma, TVS Electronics Ltd etc.
In this lecture, conducted as a part of Management Accounting course at the institute, Mr. Sundaram lucidly explained many valuable insights to the students on a wide range of topics ranging from Creation of value chains in organizations to issues concerning SMEs as well as Challenges of scale and corporate consciousness.
The two hour long session was accompanied by questions from students to get an experts perspective relating their subject matter and its implementation in the real industry. Mr. Sundaram who is not only a Fellow of the Institute of Cost Accountants but also has twice been awarded as CFO of the year for FMCG sector by CNBC TV 18, stressed upon the fact that the company growth should be sustainable also. With many real life examples he made the students understand that execution is more important a phase than strategizing. Participants in the lecture particularly praised his thoughts concerning continuous benchmarking of self and the team one is working in to save oneself from breeding complacency.
The Industry Integration committee at SPJIMR forms a part of the ADMAP (Assessment and Development of Managerial and Administrative Potential) Program at SPJIMR. In its endeavor to continuously strengthen the resource-exchange relationship between the Industry and Academia, the Industry Integration Committee at SPJIMR organizes Industry visits, CEO lectures, Industry related events and live projects for the students.
