The key events of Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad

The students of MICA (Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad) involve themselves in various student activities.

 

1- MCSA (MICA Council for Students Affair) is the official face of all students on campus, which helps in monitoring the smooth functioning of the campus.

It is a body elected by the students of MICA, consisting of the president, general secretary and the treasurer. MCSA acts as the communication bridge between the students and the administration. It makes it a point to unfold all the problems, issues, queries of the students to the administration. In other words, it is the student’s voice to the administration.

 

2- MICANVAS is MICA’s brand annual management festival. It is a platform to bring together eminent professionals from the industry and the best brains from the top B-schools in India to challenge conventional stereotypes about consumer’s mind space and redefine newer ones in the dynamic marketing millennium. It was first conducted in the year 2002 and over the years many well reputed B-schools like IIMs, XLRI, FMS and many more participated in it. Prominent industry professionals such as Santosh Desai of Future Brands, Harsha Bhogle of ESPN-Star, Prahalad Kakkar of Genesis, Vinita Bali of Britannia Foods and Bhaskar Bhat of Titan have graced the event in the past.

 

In 2007, MICANVAS for the first time in its history hosted the international conclave where students from UK, France, USA, Australia and Singapore participated.

 

3-  MICA students took initiative to start MLS (MICA Lecture series) with the intention to bring the best mind of the industry to the campus like S.K Palekar, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Knowledge Department, Eureka Forbes, Robert Picard, Director Media Management and transformation Centre, Jongkopin Universiy, Sweden, Mahesh murthy ,CEO, Pinstorm, Mr. Harsha Bhogle, ESPN-Star and many more. MLS also goes beyond industry interface and invite individuals from fields such as politics, theatre and journalism who have been achievers and trail blazers.

 

4- MICAMINDS is the student’s consultancy wing of MICA. Students undertake live industrial projects involving research and execute them under faculty guidance. It has four sets of faculty guided activities like consultancy lab (focuses on brand building, consumer right), Idea Incubation Centre (focus on pre-emptive exploration), Research Lab (analysis), Future Tracker (tool kit to anticipating the future).

 

5- Sankalp is the theatre club at MICA. Apart from various in-house plays one grand play is performed every year for the paying public. Sankalp provides an opportunity to the students to display their skills but more importantly, in its own small way, Sankalp is an attempt at acknowledging the importance of theatre as an effective medium of communication and entertainment.

 

Apart from these activities, students involve themselves in other activities like Crosstalk, Baithak, literary committee, MICA News and many more activities.
