A Typical Day @ Great Lakes Institute of Management

Jul 05,2011

As I was coming out after my last exam of term “Business Statistics”, I just realized, it is just 2.5 months, and one term in b-school over for me.

Sitting in open air amphitheatre, as I was writing this, it was difficult for me to assimilate the fact, that one term over in this roller coaster ride..

The first thing one prominently notices about GLIM is “Tower of reflection”, surrounded by huge amphitheatre, where you can find Spartans(as our current batch is known as) with their laptops working on case studies in their respective groups.

The race to complete assignments, be it Micro, or Bizness Communication, finding time to play TT, time to finish meals in short breaks have taught us to make 40 hrs out of our usual 24 hrs.

Our typical day starts at 9 Am, though it could be as early as 8 AM as well, and ends at 5 PM(though there are no fixed timings, and it could exceed till 10 PM), and the time thereafter is spent in working for presentations, case studies, and playing TT,fussball.

And not to miss, first month came as a surprise in the form of surprise quizzes, known quizzes midterms, and what not.

However, most of the interesting sessions occur during interaction with best of faculties, knowing their perspectives, and not to miss regular guest lecturers from the best of industry people. Peer Learning from a batch of 300 spartans from various backgrounds, is in itself a great experience. It seems, we have made our lives around each other in the campus.

Not only this, college ensures us to be socially aware managers, hence every week, students go to nearby villages (being adopted by GLIM), as part of Leadership Experiential Project.

During these months, I have been successful in doing SWOT Analysis of myself, and wonder, if I would be able to overcome in coming 10 months by being part of available clubs, and committees.

As I plan to conclude this experience, all I can see in my inbox Term 2 course outline, and Timetable waiting for me.:)

Concluded.
