IIM Udaipur students share Diwali delights with the children of Jeevan Jyoti Child Home
'Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do but how much love we put in that action..
Mother Teresa'' : With this thought in mind, on the auspicious day of Diwali, i.e., November 13, 2012, the IIMU family went to Jeevan Jyoti Child Home to share a few moments of happiness with the children there. Jeevan Jyoti Child Home is a Govt. run boarding school for children belonging to poor families from in and around Udaipur. The event was coordinated by Prayatna, the social club of IIM Udaipur.
The day began with an ice-breaking session for an informal introduction from both sides. A number of activities had been planned for the day, the first of which was the drawing competition for the children. Each child was provided with drawing sheets and colors, and was let free to pour their thoughts on paper as creatively as possible.
This was followed by a series of fun games for which teams were formed from the group of children. It was great to see the enthusiasm and the competitive spirit among the children. Then, a friendly cricket match was played between the visitors and the home team.
The festival of Diwali cannot be complete without sweets, diyas and crackers. So, sweets were distributed, and the IIMU students lit diyas along with the children and burst a few crackers. Through these small efforts, the IIMU family was able to light a few innocent faces with smiles on the festival of light.
IIMU aims to create socially responsible leaders, and such activities are steps in that direction.
