IIM Rohtak Summer Placement 2012: Places 123 students at 55 organisations

Indian Institute of Management Rohtak, the 8th member of the IIM family successfully concluded its summer placement for the year 2012. IIM Rohtak is the only new IIM to have increased its strength from 47 to 123 students in just one year since its inception and has justified the increase and combated the gloom hovering over the economy by making its placement process a staggering success.

The institute cemented its relationships with well-known recruiters and forged new relationships across various sectors of the industry. The advantage of being the only IIM in the NCR region was clearly visible by the enthusiastic response from the industry.

 

The batch of 123 students was placed in 55 organizations and yielded 1.2 offers per student. Individual interests of every student were taken into account to ensure the best fit for the student and the internship role. The average stipend turned out to be a phenomenal INR 51,130 given the huge batch size. Some of the niche roles offered to the students include: social entrepreneurship, social media marketing and international marketing. The highlights of the entire process include international offers and four potential international offers (subject to formalities). The highest international offer was 180,000 INR

 

The largest chunk (30%) of students accepted offers in an array of Marketing profiles such as Sales, Internet Marketing, Market Research, Branding and B2B Marketing. Major recruiters include Tata Motors, Coca Cola, ITC, Berger Paints, Business Standard, Tata Power, Tata DOCOMO, Siemens, Reliance Communications, Pitney Bowes, McCann Erikson, Draft FCB Ulka, Dalmia Cements & IMRB.

Nearly 27% of the batch accepted diverse profiles in Finance sector such as Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Asset Management, Retail Banking, Project Finance and Financial Modeling in companies like ICICI Bank, Max India, Birla Sun Life Insurance, SBI Mutual Funds, Yes Bank, IIFCL, Canara Bank, Tata Capital, Bank of Baroda& GMR Group.

 

Organizations like Ernst & Young, Rediff, Motorola, IBM, TCS, iMax Technologies & TVS Motors offered challenging IT, Strategy & Consulting roles to 25% of the batch. Rest of the batch bagged internship offers in Operations and General Management in firms like Tata Motors, Benchmark Six Sigma, Ashok Leyland, TVS Motors, Voltas, Tata Power, Subros & Jaipur Rugs.

 

All the recruiters who visited the campus for the placement process appreciated the batch for strong academics, communication skills, practical approach, experience, aptitude and attitude. The successful summer internship process is a concrete testimony to the quality of students and management education imparted at IIM Rohtak.
