IIM Calcutta to Present Annual Cultural Festival, Carpe Diem 2010

Carpe Diem or "Seize the day". While the phrase may find resonance in its usage for students of IIM Calcutta during their placements season, in the land of Joka it is rendered a completely different twist.

When the brightest minds in the country decide to let loose for a weekend, decide to shun the mundane everyday life for 3 days and decide to party, one gets one of the biggest cultural extravaganzas in eastern India, an experience to cherish for a lifetime - Carpe Diem.

Over the years Carpe Diem has been witness to some of the best bands of the country taking centre stage, plays that left one gaping in wonder, dance performances and fashion shows that redefined talent and this edition promises to only better its predecessors in touching new heights of enthusiasm as encapsulated in the tagline "Fly into the madness" called Carpe Diem.

The latest edition of Carpe Diem will showcase a flurry of competitions described as follows:-

Literary Arts

While Potpouri tests the participants to make sense out of randomness with events like Dumb-charades and Pictionary, War of Words is sure to make a CAT reading comprehension passage pale in comparison with cryptic vocabulary, phrases and anagrams. Imaginitio adds to the mix by stroking the creative streak in the participants.

Speaking Events

While Flip-Flop is designed to judge the neutral bent of mind by asking a contestant to take opposing stands on an issue, Stand-Up Comedy will have the audience in splits. Debate won't be missed with teams ready to fight it out in Line of Fire and Rant On will test your gift of the gab. Mercury Theatre will be one of its kind where the objective shall be to recreate the magic of an English radio play, where contestants will be separated from the listeners by a screen. Only their voices can be heard.

As they say think Quiz, think IIM Calcutta. We promise to live up to the same with participants all set to be bombarded on their knowledge of Football, Entertainment and yes, General Quiz (Calcutta Open Quiz series) in three different events.
