Mr. R. Ravimohan Chairman CRISIL Visits VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur

Corporate B-School interaction is what makes MBA education worthwhile. Students learn from the experiences of the visiting guests while guests also feel great to share their experiences with budding managers.

Keeping this basic idea in mind, the Corporate and Media Interaction committee of Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur organizes series of Industry Interaction sessions where eminent guests from corporate visit the campus and share their views on the latest market happenings.

The 1st Guest Lecture of the new Academic Session was held at VGSOM on 2nd August, 2009. All the Students and a majority of the Faculty members turned up for what was a highly interactive session with Mr. R. Ravimohan. He is the Chairman of CRISIL and also the Managing Director and Region Head (South and Southeast Asia) of Standard & Poor's.

Speaking on the topic "Managing in the volatile, Hi Tech and Global World", which he coined as the three new paradigms in management challenges, he talked in detail about Global Rebalancing, the Changing Regulations and about how the world is closely connected. He talked about the shift of power from Western Countries to Emerging Economies and about how the Military Power and Population are playing a pivotal role in these movements.

He spoke of the way how a particular country's laws affect other country's regulations especially in the time of a crisis. He spoke about the ongoing Oil Crisis and how it is being used to hedge the danger of investing in Dollars. He talked about the need to expand by giving the example of Indian Steel Companies.
