MBA Business Plan Competition (i2i ) organised at IIM Calcutta

Finals at Calcutta on February 13, 2005

The Entrepreneurship Cell at IIM Calcutta is organizing i2I 2004 - Ideas to Implementation - a chance for budding entrepreneurs to display their entrepreneurial skills on the big stage. The event pits keen minds aspiring to follow in the footsteps of the great entrepreneurial successes that characterize the Indian business scene.

Not only will the winning teams get prize money and mementos, the business plans will be put into action. The select few will be fully funded by Venture capitalists who provide them incubation, and the winners are provided with complete support in their efforts to set up and execute the plan conceived. With IndiaCo as our primary backers, there is little doubt that the plan will have a terrific foundation. India's next great success story on the business front might very well come from here. This year-long event was first held in the year 2001. Following the grand success of its predecessors, i2I 2004 has been able to capture the attention of an increasing number of wannabe entrepreneurs as well as venture capitalists.

The current edition of the event was formally inaugurated on the 20th of November, 2004. Teams from both the student community as well as the corporate world were asked to send in their business plan executive summaries. These were then sent to the judges, including many noted academicians and corporate leaders, who narrowed the list of finalists to ten. The final round of i2I-2004 has been scheduled for the 13th of February, Sunday. Prominent judges will evaluate detailed business plans which have survived rounds of prior elimination. The finalists are each required to make a presentation of their business plan outlining their reasons for choosing that area, why they think it will succeed and whether or not it is financially viable. For the first time ever, the event is being held within the IIMC campus.

The event begins at 10:00 in the morning and teams make presentations through the course of the day. The results will be announced at 6:45 pm, following which a press conference and a grand dinner will be held.

Concluded.
