'Sify Day' at MDI Gurgaon

Gurgaon, January 22, 2005: In its unrelenting quest of attaining excellence and forging a close partnership with the industry, MDI welcomed top honchos of Sify on its campus on 22nd January 2005. Mr. R. Ramaraj, CEO of Sify chose MDI as a venue to celebrate 'Sify Day' and was accompanied by Mr. Ajith Abraham, HR and Administration Manager and Mr. Harsha Ram and Mr. Nitin Pandey, who had joined Sify in the recent past as management trainees.

Mr. Ramaraj spoke about the 'Emerging challenges for management professionals'. His speech was focused on four issues - what changes are taking place globally, which kinds of companies would emerge victorious from these changes, what was causing such a transformation and what will it take for a management professional to succeed in such a scenario.

He stated that a company today needs to take care of three things to tackle the changing environment - focus on its core competence, outsource to specialists and focus on process excellence. He said that the biggest challenge facing a management professional was the rapidity of changes around him, besides having to be multi-skilled and innovative. To be successful, one needed to be open-minded, culture sensitive and have a high self-esteem.

Mr. Ajith Abraham enlightened the audience about the essence of the 'Sify Way', the foundation on which Sify is built. The 'Sify Way' is a seven point agenda that an employee always needs to keep in mind. It includes putting the needs of the customer first, being accountable and action-oriented among other things. He said that Sify's employees are its biggest assets and they wanted to be 'the employers of choice'.

Both Mr. Harsha Ram and Mr. Nitin Pandey spoke about the various opportunities that Sify gives to its employees and on how Sify had become an inseparable part of their lives.

The day finally ended with an interactive session between the students and the team from Sify. In response to a question on how would cyber cafes earn revenues, given that a number of people now own a personal computer, Mr. Ramaraj responded that Sify sought to differentiate and capitalize on the online gaming market, besides serving the needs of day trading people and also those who seek education online.

Concluded.
