    Summers 2004 at JBIMS, Mumbai

Summers 2004 at Bajaj was a hectic affair with more than 60 companies participating in the process this year. The summer placement process was held in the month of October and was spread out over three days with companies being given slots on the basis of the preference of the students. The students were thrown into the maelstrom of Day One this year with almost 30 companies making it to the coveted slot. The organizations reciprocated in kind by recruiting sixty students within 10 hours. The entire process was a lot less relaxed vis-à-vis last year and the students got a taste of the pressure, drama and tension that is usually a staple of Executive Placements.

Companies that chose to participate this year included regulars like HLL, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, ICICI Bank, Cadbury, Gillette, Castrol and Marico. New visitors and previous recruiters who made a welcome return to campus included Coke, GSK, The GE Group, Frito-Lays, Morgan Stanley, L'Oreal and Ernst & Young. The year also saw heavy participation from the IT majors like TCS, Patni and Wipro.

The Banking and Financial Services sector picked up the bulk of students this season with a welcome resurgence in FMCG placements as well. Stipends offered this year averaged at Rs. 12,500 per month with entry level compensation of around Rs. 10,000. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 50,000 for the duration of the project.

    Concluded.
