XLRI Student's Paper Adjudged "Most Thought Provoking Paper"
in 26th McMaster World Congress, Canada


Jamshedpur, February 3, 2005

Kumar Anand, Business Management Student of XLRI Jamshedpur had his paper adjudged as "The Most Thought Provoking Paper" in the 26th McMaster World Congress, Hamilton, Canada. The Paper, written under the theme Intellectual Capital & Innovation, was titled "Managing Intellectual Capital in Growth Organisations in the New Knowledge Economy". The Paper suggested a model framework for organisations to manage their Intellectual Capital in the present hyper-competitive global economy. He was the sole delegate from India invited to this conference, and had the opportunity to have a discussion with the former Canadian Deputy PM, Hon. John Manley.

The McMaster World Congress is jointly held by the DeGroote School of Business, Canada, in association with the Management of Innovation & New Technology Research Centre (Canada) and the Taiwan Intellectual Capital Research Centre. The conference was held from January 19-21, 2005 at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. This conference was attended by World Leaders, Corporate delegates, academicians and students from over 35 countries. The conference was divided into four categories namely e-business, corporate governance, intellectual capital and innovation and PhD doctoral consortium.

Former Deputy PM and Federal Finance Minister of Canada, John Manley; Eric Rosenfeld (President & CEO, Crescendo Investments); Chris Browne (MD, Tweedy Browne Investments) & Jim Goodfellow (Vice Chairman, Deloitte) were among the many dignitaries who delivered keynote speech at the Conference. Besides, a host of other CEOs and Directors also delivered their presentation during the conference. The students came from more than 70 universities spread all over the world, including University of Missouri, USA; Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal; Lappeeniranta University of Technology, Finland; University De Murcia, Spain and University of Basilicata, Italy.

During the Conference, the Former Deputy PM, Hon. John Manley had a detailed discussion with Kumar as to the outlook of students in India towards Canada. He spoke highly of Indian Students and professionals working in Canada and hoped that the present young generation would take Indo-Canada ties to a higher level. He said that greater co-operation in sharing human and knowledge capital would drive both countries towards a better future.
