Kalpataru, the annual intellectual and cultural festival at the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal was held on the 6th-11th February 2005. The festival was kicked off with the lamp-lighting ceremony by IIFM Director, Dr. D. K. Bandhyopadhyaya.

And then started the much-awaited events for childrens of IIFM faculties and Staff. The events such as essay-writing and painting competitions, treasure-hunt, 50m race, three-legged race, sack race, lemon race and fancy-dress competition marked a huge rush and the volunteers really had a fever. The day was filled with fun and laughter with the children of the faculty and staff competing in the events with all their efforts and being cheered on by their parents and the students. The day was also graced with the presence of the chief guest, Dr. Kinsuk Mitra, President, Winrock International India, who gave away the prizes and also delivered an enlightening speech on the occasion of Foundation Day which coincided with the start of Kalpataru.

7th Feb. the second day of Kalpataru - Open House - was the day, which MBA Grads of Bhopal cannot forget throughout their life. The brightest young minds from the B-schools and colleges of Bhopal converged at IIFM to compete, to excel, to learn and to have fun during Kalpataru. Hosted at IIFM's picturesque campus, the event witnessed large-scale participation from MANIT, CRIM, NLIU, TIT, BISS, IPER, VNSIM and many others. The budding managers of Bhopal converged at IIFM to compete in competitions that tested not just their intellectual capacity but also their creative quotient. The sponsors for the events to name a few were Top n Town, Monsieur, Micro World, Central Color Lab, etc. E-TV and Bhaskar managed to telecast the recordings of the events.

A whole gamut of events ensured that all the participants and organizers were on their tow right from the morning. Events like Guess the Gap, Debate, Quiz and Meet the Press were grand success. These were well-designed games that made the participating teams duel it out for creating the best of their brains. The audience felt indeed addictive. IIFM team played a good host and tough opponent as it lifted the Overall Champions Trophy leaving NLIU close second. But NLIU participants won huge accolades by winning the Debate and Quiz competition. IIFM won Meet the Press, Guess the Gap and got second spot in Quiz. The day ended with a rocking DJ Viva, which really added more fun to the hectic day. The experience of watching the events was really exhilarating to say the least.
