Medical Camp Held by Students of XLRI Jamshedpur

A Free Medical Camp was held on Sunday by the students of XLRI Jamshedpur in collaboration with the NGO, SEEDS (Socio Economic and Educational Development Society). This is the second in the series of medical camps being conducted by the Social Initiative Group for Managerial Assistance (SIGMA) of XLRI, in the Musabani block since November last year.

The camp was help in the Vikrampur village of the Musabani block, roughly 70 kms from the city of Jamshedpur. The camp was attended by 260 people, many of whom had covered large distances by foot in order to avail the medical facilities being offered there.

3 eminent doctors from the city, Dr. B..K. Pani, Dr. B. Mohapatra and Dr. Ranjit, attended the camp and patiently examined the large number of patients who had gathered there. The medicines that were distributed were contributed by doctors and medical practitioners of Jamshedpur.

The camp was a part of an initiative taken by SIGMA of XLRI and was immensely supported by the Secretary of SEEDS, Dr. Shubhra Dwivedi. The mission of SEEDS is to build an enabling environment for strengthening the capacity of the grass-root people leading to their empowerment. Many field coordinators, who work with SEEDS, joined hands in helping the students on the day of the camp.

"SIGMA considers such activities to be a vehicle for bigger and sustainable income generation projects that we can organise for these people ", says Shilpi Nanda, the Secretary of SIGMA.

The students of XLRI look forward to support from individuals and Corporates in funding similar social ventures in the future.
