IMI Holds 21st Annual Convocation

Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dikshit Confers Diplomas in Business Management

New Delhi, 16 May, 2005: The Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dikshit. today awarded medals and distinguished alumnus awards to three former students of International Management Institute (IMI) for their distinguished achievements in their respective areas. The honors were bestowed at the 21st Annual Convocation of IMI.

While giving her convocation address, Smt. Dikshit emphasized that while skills become obsolete, values and attitudes do not. She exhorted the students to have a positive attitude, a winning attitude, an attitude of sharing and caring for the underprivileged in the community. She also asked the graduating students to look beyond business. "India is emerging as a major economic & knowledge power and for those with a right attitude and will to work hard, the sky is the limit, in terms of opportunities for those who dare to dream and make those dreams work," she said.

Shri R. P. Goenka, Chairman IMI presented Post Graduate Diplomas in Business Management (PGDBM) to 167 students during the Convocation.

Welcoming Smt. Dikshit and the Board of Trustees of IMI, Dr. C. S. Venkata Ratnam, Director IMI India said, "The institute’s objective is to prepare graduating students for challenging careers through an intensive and rigorous curriculum. We have seen 100% placement for our students, and our faculty today holds key positions across the globe in industry and academia".

With a core faculty strength of 40 members, the faculty-student ratio at IMI is 1:12. IMI’s faculty has been drawn from reputed national and international institutions with substantial industry experience. According to Dr. Ratnam, this ensures a focused and personalized attention towards intellectual, social and ethical development of the IMI students.
