IMI launches 11-month Postgraduate Diploma Program in Knowledge Management

Increases faculty strength by 50%

New Delhi, June 21, 2005: International Management Institute has launched a new - Executive Diploma Programme in Knowledge Management - (KM) primarily for the middle and the senior level executives.

The programme comprising three modules will span over eleven (11) months, and the delivery will follow a flexible, adaptive pattern. It comprises of eleven (11) compulsory courses with 30-hour class room contact each. Each course will carry thirty credits. A project work which forms part of the curriculum will be carried in two phases spread over 9 months and equal to 240 hour class room contact and will carry another 24 credits.

Throughout the duration of the program, the faculty and the participants will be linked through an intranet and a faculty moderated e-group on KM with mentors from among KM professionals in India and abroad. Between the modules participants and faculty will be networked through moderated e-group discussions and monitored project work. Thus, the modular program spread over 11 months requires absence from work for only 33 to 35 days spread over three modules in 11 months.

"The objective of this program is to focus on people responsible for developing systems and processes using IT as a tool for KM. It will help executives to build an effective KM community within the organisation and prepare them in playing a key role in driving Knowledge Management Initiatives and leverage KM for competitiveness," said Dr. C. S. Venkata Ratnam, Director International Management Institute (IMI).

Apart from the full-time faculty of IMI and others from reputed international consulting organisations with a demonstrated track record for their KM initiatives and accomplished international experts on the subject will also be invited to explain the key concepts and share their experiences. "We have just added 6 new faculty members," he added.

The main focus is to provide rich and rare intellectually stimulating learning by experts from across the country and to integrate such learning into action. "In this programme, the students will be spending one-third of their time in the industry," said Dr. Ratnam. The first batch of this programme will commence from August 2005.
