Another Year of Impressive Summer Placements at DoMS, IIT Roorkee for MBA Class of 2005-07

After its most successful Final Placement season, DoMS IIT Roorkee concluded the Summer Placements for its MBA Class of 2005-07 in style, surpassing all past performances.

IBM Software Labs, for instance, which recruits just a couple of management interns across the country, further reinforced its relationship with DoMS hiring an intern this year, after making a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) to last year's intern. DoMS broke new grounds with corporate bigwigs such as Sun Microsystems, RPG Group, Honeywell, Bristlecone, AC Neilsen, Fitch Ratings and the likes.

The maximum offers were made by Genpact and TNS Global (4 a piece) while other prominent recruiters for this summer included KPMG, Ernst & Young, 3i Infotech, Ranbaxy, SBI Caps, Maruti Udyog, Bajaj Auto, Mastek, Aditi Technologies, SIDBI Venture, Reserve Bank of India amongst others.

Once again, the number of offers exceeded the number of students for the moderate batch size of 45 which has a mix of freshers as well as experienced engineering graduates, as some of the companies keen on hiring interns were altogether unable to do so. A total of 27 companies ranging from Consulting to IT, Banking & Finance to Market Research, Automotive to Business Houses, ITES to PSUs and Pharma to Venture Capital, offering a diverse set of profiles, absorbed the 45 candidates through the rolling Summer Placement process.

There has been an impressive rise in average stipends while PPO projections are also running high. Meanwhile, the number of PPOs rose from Two for the Class of 2005 to Eight for the Class of 2006, for similar batch sizes, clearly indicating rising demand for management graduates from IIT Roorkee. Both Final as well as Summer Placements are looking more and more encouraging year after year at the fledging Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee, which has been experiencing a higher than average growth rate amongst premier B-schools.

    Concluded.
