Endorsed by renowned designer and social activist Ms. Shaina NC, the India NGO Award 2006 is a Resource Mobilization Award to recognize and celebrate achievements of non-profit organisations in India. The Award, being instituted for the first time this year will focus on issues of governance, impact and accountability.

Ms. Usha Menon, Chairperson, Resource Alliance India said, "Fund-raisers in most developing countries face a number of challenges including low credibility for the non-profit sector and a shortage of good role models. Though successful examples of resource mobilisation exist, they are not widely known about. As a result, relatively few non-profits venture into the field of local fund-raising and donors are slow to support initiatives in this direction."
