Dr. Philip Kotler & Great Lakes Institute of Management to Set-up Marketing Research Centre in India
    Post-event Press-release

Chennai, July 21, 2006: Great Lakes Institute of Management, a leading B-school based in Chennai with an objective of offering world class education and specializing in Strategic Marketing & Research plans to set up Philip Kotler - Srinivasan Centre for Research in Marketing.

Great Lakes Institute is known for bringing down stalwarts from various industries to the institute. This time around, it is none other than the legendary Marketing Guru, Dr. Philip Kotler, member of the Academic Advisory Council of Great Lakes Institute of management. Great Lakes students are currently associated with Dr. Kotler in his research on 'Indian Industries and the Synergy Between Technology & Marketing', which focuses on Information Technology Sector.

The Research Centre is named after the legendary Marketing Guru and Dr. Seenu Srinivasan, the Adams Distinguished Professor of Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. The chair aims to use Dr. Kotler's expertise and Dr. Srinivasan's skill in 'developing the body of knowledge of Marketing'. The research centre will focus on marketing and sales research in India and will help extrapolate global concepts to local needs.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Bala Balachandran, Founder and Honorary Dean, Great Lakes Institute of Management, said, "Given the natural core competencies and expertise on hand, we at Great Lakes have decided to make Marketing as our focus. In the past, we have exposed our students to seminars by industry veterans like Dr. Ratan Tata and Mr. Deepak Chopra, to name a few, and with Dr. Kotler's visit, we are proud to give our students an opportunity to interact with the marketing messiah himself. We will continue to bring such legends in varying fields to Great Lakes Institute, for our students to benefit and also to ensure that we produce world-class talent passing out of our institution every year."
