A Day at IMT Ghaziabad

- by Sanjeev Prakash *

Page - 1

A typical day at IMT Ghaziabad begins at 8:00 am in the morning. For most of the people, classes start at 8:30 am. Most of the half hour goes away in somehow managing to get ready and not missing that elusive breakfast.
Somehow I make in time for the first class just before the door closes promising myself tomorrow I will wake up in time and have breakfast. Then for next five hours I learn about Kotler, Porter, Drucker, etc., and how do we apply their theories in the numerous cases we do everyday. By 1:30 pm, I am very hungry and can't wait to get to the mess.

Going in to the mess for lunch again and hoping today the lunch would not be that bad. (IMT has one of the best messes in the country but the problem is how much mess food can one take?) Well who can beat the inevitable and there is nothing new at the mess. One good advantage of eating in the mess is you get to hear all the latest news and more importantly the buzz on the campus. Nothing beats community eating.

Walking to the room after lunch, one cannot help but notice the drooping eyes of your mates around you. From 2:30 pm to around 5:00 pm, IMT sleeps. There is literally no activity. Even submissions and projects take a backseat at this time.

Around 5:00 pm, I wake up and decide what to do now. I decide to go and play badminton. As usual, there are quite a few people lined up to play badminton so I am lucky if I manage to get in a game, meet a few of my group members at the court who inform me that we have a group meeting for an OB project at 10:00 pm in Saumya's room, so I decide to go to the library and do a bit of research. I get quite a bit of information from the state-of-the-art library. Getting back to the room I decide to get some studying done before its time for dinner.

After dinner, which was good as there was chicken biryani, we meet up at Saumya's room and have a healthy discussion on the current practices followed in organizations. This is the best time to be at IMT. It is totally happening and vibrant and there is a lot of noise and activity going around the campus. At around 1:00 am, there is the usual power cut for around five minutes, which means we should break up the meeting and signal the start of free hours. Now till 3:30 am all that I am going to do is watch a movie. After the movie, I can barely keep myself awake so I lie down on the bed and the best part of staying on campus is that as soon as you touch the bed you are asleep, dreaming of the mega bucks you are going to make once you pass out of IMT.

Concluded.
