IIM Kozhikode Conclave 'Backwaters 2007' to Focus on Inclusive Growth

The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, is organizing its Annual Management & Cultural Festival, Backwaters 2007, from 12th to 14th of January 2006 at the institute's scenic campus in Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala.

Thousands have participated in the recently launched online events, and nearly 200 participants from business schools all over India will visit IIMK to participate in the festival. The stage is set for a battle of wits. Up for grabs is the prestige of being among the best and prizes worth lakhs.

The star attraction of the event is the RIL White Knight Competition, a one of a kind, social B-plan Contest. At the core of the contest is inclusive growth across sectors. Participants needed to come up with ideas that would make a significant difference to agriculture, rural development and healthcare and renewable energy. The passion to make a difference was evident from the hundreds of entries that poured in for the contest. The shortlisted teams were mentored by people with years of experience in these sectors.

Ten teams now have the opportunity to move closer to their dreams by showcasing their vision and drive in front of a distinguished panel. Apart from the glory of being crowned the champion of champions, the teams will compete for a cash prize of Rs. 1.0 lakh with another lakh being donated to a charity of the winners' choice. A compendium of the top five ideas will be presented to the PMO as the contribution of budding business leaders to society.

In addition to this, business simulation games will give an opportunity to the participants to apply their classroom concepts to the real world. The participants can let their hair down by participating in informal competitions. There are also on-the-spot management games that shall judge the participant's presence of mind much more than their knowledge of management jargon. Pulsating concerts by Mother Jane and Euphoria, plays and parties promise to add colour to the event.
