Great Lakes Institute Celebrates 3rd Convocation, Flags Off PGPM Batch of 2007

Graduation Day 2007

The Great Lakes Institute of Management witnessed its third convocation ceremony with the passing out of the PGPM Batch of 2007. It was about flagging off a journey forward, and at the same time, looking back at the sweet memories with watery eyes. It was about the nostalgia and the vision to make a difference to the life of people around.

The students of the Batch of 2007, fondly called as "Crusaders" by loving Uncle Bala, the Honorable Dean of Great Lakes, received their certificates for Post Graduate Program in Management. The certificates were given out by the Honorable Governor of Tamilnadu, His Highness Mr. Surjeet Singh Barnala. The event was also marked by the presence the Chairman of Infosys Foundation, Mrs. Sudha Murthy.

Mr. Barnala, in his address, said, "We need to create our own model of management in line with our national ethos." It is in semblance with the very motto of Great Lakes that is 'Global Mindset and Indian Roots'. The Guest of Honor, Mrs. Murthy, in her address appealed to the students to be compassionate. "You are stepping into the corporate world. If you are not compassionate, you will lose out on emotional quotient," added Mrs. Murthy.

The students were facilitated for their outstanding academic success. Awards were given out to students who excelled in all the horizontals at Great Lakes, viz., Finance, Marketing, Operations and Human Resource and Strategy.

Amidst all these awards the show stealer was the Popularity Award for the faculty members which generated maximum vibes and tickled the lighter spirits of the students.

The Year That Was

It was not just about the student's achievements, rather it also celebrated various landmarks that the college had achieved in the past year.

The ceremony also marked the launch of Herald, a research journal set up under the aegis of Yale Research Center. It has research papers submitted by eminent academicians from various fields.
