NITIE - I Will Miss You

- by Gulbahar Grover *

I always wonder why the hell I miss NITIE whenever I am away from its chaotic, 24/7 hectic environment... even for a single day. Why do I miss the guys who never leave the chance of throwing potshots even during my presentations? Why do I miss the place, which shattered my dream of beauty-filled, singles heaven B-schools, where I cannot sleep even for 4 hours (do not tell it to my Mom...)? There are many more WHYs...

With a three-years work-exp in steel melting shop of Bokaro (SAIL), any sane person would fall in love with the place surrounded by three beautiful lakes, eye catching greenery (sometimes panthers also visit us... ) and rooms with attached baths... (my B-schools friends do not believe it) and some beautiful gals, all Engineers though... )

On the first day itself, it was clear that life is not going to be easy here... I slept at 4 am after coming from 38 hours journey and a tiring day... what the hell!!! Then selections for 8 committees, forums started... no committee found me eligible for them... (But my batch mates compensated it by electing me in other committees), prepare for "DENOVO" night... my BESTEST night (all other nights are BEST)... surprisingly people that night found that I can "ACT"... ). Our classes are so boring (how can fundas from supply chain gurus be interesting for an Instrumentation guy)... worst thing is profs take for granted that you know the basics... then there are quizzes, class tests, presentations, reports and not to forget "Mandi"... Oh God! SAIL was better.

"Kabhi bhi kahin bhi kuchh bhi ho sakta hai..." is the funda here. It may so happen that you are being bumped and debited in mess account and you are begging to tell the reason "at least". You can chill here like anything; people will take care of your b'days, interests, hobbies, assignments, presentations, sometimes attendance too... but... still you will never be free of reports, ppts, photocopies, printouts, projects, etc... still you will sleep at 5 am and miss your meals for reaching in the class on time and others will eat your Maggi from your plate while you are starving...

B'day nights are best nights here... B'day boy is like "bali ka bakra"... anyone can do anything with him... ). B'day boy will get cake for everything (smear it on face, hair, clothes, etc.) but "to eat".

I was just shocked when our CR sent message of term exams schedule... I am still shocked that a whole one year has passed, and just after 6 months, I will not be able to give "Jadoo ki Jhappi" to most of my batch mates even if I tried... and then I will miss NITIE even more...
