Two IIM Indore Students Lost their Lives at Choral River Dam

They had no idea that their idea of celebrating friendship day at Choral Dam would cost them their lives. Nitesh Agarwal from Delhi and Nidhi Singh from Hyderabad were swept away by strong water currents of the Choral river.
Both were second year students of management at IIM Indore. They had gone to Choral Dam (situated on the outskirts of Indore) with two other friends to celebrate Friendship Day on 4th August.

According to eyewitnesses, both were sitting on a rock situated in mid-stream. The villagers around and policeman on duty had warned them about the danger, but they seem to have ignored the warning. Choral river is known for its strong currents. The water rose suddenly, sweeping away both of these students. Villagers and people present there tried to rescue them but to no avail.

According to Angshuman Yadav, SP, Indore, rain and dim lighting hindered the rescue operations on Saturday. On Sunday, when the rescue operation started again, both bodies were found - one at a distance of 4 km and the other at 8 km.

Family members of the victims were not satisfied with the rescue operations. Nitesh's mother, a heart patient, has not been told about her son's death and is still waiting for her son who had promised her to come home on 30th August.

Concluded.
