Summer Placements at DoMS-IIT Roorkee Follow Impressive Growth Trajectory of Past Year

Following the impressive growth trajectory set by the Executive Placements of MBA Class of 2005-07, the Summer Placement process of the MBA Class of 2006-08 scripted another growth story at the Department of Management Studies at IIT Roorkee.

This year witnessed a wide spectrum of companies offering diverse profiles to the MBA Class of 2006-08, which has a batch size of 50. The Summer Placement process had representation from diverse sectors of the Corporate world like Healthcare, Infrastructure, Commodity Markets, Banking, Automobiles, IT, Consultancy, KPO, etc. The number of companies that participated in the summer placement process increased from 27 to 35 companies this year.

Marketing & Business Development profiles were offered by Apollo Group (Apollo Health & Lifestyle, Apollo Hospitals), Bajaj Auto, BPCL, Eicher Motors, L&T, Technopak. Consulting profiles were on offer from Bristlecone India, Genpact, IBM, Proact Management Consultants, Riskraft Consulting. Birlasoft, Honeywell, iBilt Technologies and Sun Microsystems took students for the IT profile. The students took up offers for SCM & Operations profile from companies like Hilti India and Trident. Analytics profile was offered by Aranca. Students took up Banking & Insurance profiles in Deutsche Bank, HSBC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, ICICI Prudential, etc. Other companies in the Financial Sector were NCDEX and SIDBI Ventures.

Another significant development this year was the participation of government bodies, SEBI and Planning Commission, which handpicked students for the Department for Projects in policy formulation.

The growth was not only in the number of companies participating in the placement process but also in the stipend offered, which saw a considerable increase of about 40% over last year. Highest Stipend offered was Rs. 20,000 per month while the Average Stipend figure stood at Rs. 10000 per month.
