XLRI Launches PGPMI Program in Association with ICICI Prudential

XLRI launched the One Year PGPMI Program, which was inaugurated by the XLRI Director, Father Casimir Raj, in the presence of ICICI Prudential officials. Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Raj mentioned that XLRI launched the program in a record time of two and half months, which was the strength of XLRI.

He said that this initiative of ICICI Prudential-XLRI collaboration will go a long way to bring in relevance to the challenges faced by the insurance sector. Continuing its long tradition of Industry-Academia partnerships, XLRI today cemented one more partnership with the industry.

The one year long program has been designed by XLRI with domain expertise from ICICI Prudential, keeping in mind the needs of the life insurance industry in particular. There would be a 2-month long internship at the end of the 3-trimester course. After the internship, the students would be absorbed in ICICI Prudential as executive trainees. The total intake of the course is 60 students, with the formal classes beginning on Monday, 20th August 2007.

The ICICI Prudential team was represented on campus by Mr. Sanjay Radhakrishnan, Associate Vice President, and Mr. Shantanu Chowdhary, Senior Manager (HR); they gave a presentation of the course curriculum to the students and their parents, who were invited for the first time in the inauguration and orientation program. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjay Radhakrishnan said that the course had two major focus areas - general management and life insurance domain. He mentioned that the course puts a lot of responsibility on the first batch, because they will act as mentors to the following batches. Apart from that, ICICI Prudential would also hold online competitions at regular intervals to motivate the students towards studies. Based on their performance in the competitions, the students would be awarded points, which can be redeemed at the end of the course or every quarter.

In the end, the Associate Dean, Dr. TAS Vijayaraghavan expressed his belief that the course would combine the best of Industry and academia to help the managers deal with the rapidly changing business environment of today. Present on the occasion was also, Mr. Deependra Sengar, CEO, TMI First Corporation, who is one amongst the top five recruitment and e-Learning consultants for corporates in India. He said that TMI First in association with XLRI has developed a battery of tests to assess competencies objectively and rule out individualistic biases and personal prejudices from the course.
