New Companies Flock Great Lakes Institute to Offer Fall Project Internships

Despite this being just the second year for the One-Month Fall Project, Great Lakes was able to build in capabilities and create opportunities for students with different kinds of jobs that they loved to do. The Fall Project again stood testimony to the interest that
industry has shown towards this concept of one-month internship. The Fall Internships at Great Lakes took place in the months of October & November. Internships concluded in the third week of November with a host of new companies coming to campus this year. The companies where students interned were from diverse industries. FMCG companies like Britannia, Dabur, Coke, Henkel, Cavin Kare, ITC, GlaxoSmithkline, etc., gave interesting marketing and logistics profiles, while manufacturing companies like TVS Motors, L&T, Tata Steel, Volvo India, Voltas, etc., offered projects in the field of supply chain management.

The Banking & Financial sector companies that visited the campus included the likes of CITIBANK, Deutsche Bank, UBS, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, CRISIL, ICRA, DBS Cholamandalam, Karvy Stock Broking and NCDEX. Although the IT industry is not in the best of health due to the rupee value appreciating as against that of the dollar, offers boomed for Great Lakers with multinationals like Microsoft, Symantec Corporation, Frost & Sullivan, Castrol, Bharti and technology companies like TCS, L&T Infotech, Satyam, Mphasis-EDS, Reach Technologies, Photon Infotech, Ramco Systems offering consulting and strategy projects. Marketing, media & advertising companies like Oglivy & Mathers, ESPN Star, Webchutney Studios, Worldspace Radio, Times Internet, Fashion Networks also offered internships and roles for Great Lakes' interns that had some of them directly reporting to the CEO.

"This year saw not only a significant growth in the number of companies coming for internships but also a great diversity in the companies which offered internships," said Mr. Swaminathan Murthy, Placement Director at Great Lakes.

    Concluded.
