MICANVAS 2008 Theme to Revolve Around the Transforming Triangle

The theme for the 2008 Edition of MICANVAS - the Annual Brand Management fest of the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) will be "The Transforming Triangle, Marketingenutiy in a 'Brand' New World", according to the organizing committee.

"With knowledge becoming a great leveller and has given birth to a new breed of modern consumers," comments Deepti Naithani, member, organizing committee of MICANVAS. "Leading this evolution globally is the middle class, with its knowledge and the drive to go the distance. As a result, the wealth at the bottom of the pyramid is belittling itself to the might of the rising middle class. To cater to this new breed, the marketing community is being forced to rework its understanding of the traditional pyramid if it has to remain prepared for the awakening of this sleeping giant."

The current trends as seen in the industry are fast moving into realms which will revolutionize the business operations especially keeping in mind the 'Transforming Pyramid' phenomena. Making use of the digital expertise, understanding the consumer psyche, foraying into rural markets, bolstering retail practices, enabling newer forms of media and utilising many such other forums will go a long way in dictating the course of the progress of any industry.

In keeping with these fast changing trends, MICANVAS 2008 promises to be a platform for hundreds of aspiring young individuals to express themselves. It promises to be a celebration of the triumph of ingenuity over convention through the showcase of the evolution of marketing strategies in response to an informed consumer.

MICANVAS 2008 will present several opportunities in the form of formal events, informal events and panel discussions for students from select B schools, undergraduate colleges and universities abroad to showcase their ideas and innovations.

MICANVAS has the legacy of being one of the most awaited and innovative college fests, with its mix of events. MICANVAS 2007 - centered around the theme of "The Third Awakening: Brand India Resonates" - was a hugely successful event where the number of sponsors, participants, events and prizes leap-frogged. For the first time in the history of any B-school fest in India, an exclusive international day was organized, which saw participation from colleges from the UK, US and Singapore.

The event highlight is the panel discussion, which in the past has seen the likes of Mr. Santosh Desai (MD, Future Brands), Mr. T. S. Seshu (Head - Rural Marketing, ITC), Mr. Lloyd Mathias (Director - Marketing, Motorola), Mr. Hemant Sachdev (Director - Marketing, Airtel), Mr. Raju Narisetti (Managing Editor, MINT), Mr. Saurabh Kanwar (VP - Content & Communication, Channel V), Mr. Tarun Katial (COO, BIG FM), Ms. Sonya Banerjee ( Head - Marketing, Yahoo! India), Mr. L. V. Krishnan (CEO, TAM India), Mr. Madhukar Kamath (MD & CEO, Mudra Communications), Mr. Bhaskar Das (President, TOI Group), Ms. Shovana Narayan, (Padmashree & Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee), Mr. Shiv Visvanathan, (Anthropologist, Social Scientist & Human Rights Researcher), Mr. Neeraj Roy (CEO, Hungama.com) come over to the campus and engage the audience in enthralling discussions revolving around the theme of the year.

MICANVAS 2008 will be held in October this year at the MICA campus in Shela, Ahmedabad.

Concluded.
