PRiSM, IIM Lucknow Launches MarkStrat 2006

PRiSM, The Marketing Cell of Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, is introducing the biggest national level marketing strategy event "MarkStrat 2006", a series of live consulting projects. The special interest group in marketing which aims to extend learning beyond classrooms, had launched the inter B-School competition on the eve of the 20th Anniversary of IIM Lucknow last year.

A first of its kind event among B-schools, MarkStrat aims to give students a chance to work on real business issues and develop marketing strategies and provide solutions to some of the biggest corporations in India and abroad. It was supported by prominent national and international brands in its first year which included the likes of Van Heusen, AirTel, Saralee (France) and Iomega (Singapore).

'MarkStrat2006' has been reloaded with another gamut of huge brands such as Perfetti Van Melle (the global confectionary giant), Yum (the largest restaurant business in the world), Emami (leading Indian FMCG) and Activor (the US based cosmetics company) in its first phase. The fact that some of these companies are beginning to set up operations in India, and are seeking the opinions of the management students of the country in this important decision, reflects the importance and seriousness of the projects undertaken in MarkStart.

The first series of MarkStrat had witnessed an enthusiastic response from more than 900 students from the top 25 B-schools such as the IIMs, FMS, XLRI, MDI, SPJIMR, NITIE, NMIMS and others. Divided in phases, the event offers students the opportunity to study a brand for about two months, conduct market study and formulate relevant strategies to address the stated issues and needs. The winning projects are implemented by the companies.
