CavinKare CMD C. K. Ranganathan at 'CEO Connect' at DoMS, IIT Madras Friday, 12th of August, saw the Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras welcoming Mr. C. K. Ranganathan, CMD - CavinKare Pvt. Ltd., on the campus as a guest for the 'CEO Connect'. This was the first episode of CEO Connect for the new academic year. CavinKare took birth 20 years ago and has stood its ground strongly while fighting the FMCG giants. With a single product offering initially, CavinKare is currently worth 500 crores, marketing 6 major brands and has always lived upto it's corporate vision of achieving growth by continuously offering unique products and services that would give customers utmost satisfaction. Recipient of 'The Entrepreneur of the year' award in October 2004, Mr. C. K. Ranganathan, enlightened the students with his experience of building an enterprise. Valuable insights were given on managing the various stakeholders in a business: Customers, Employees, Suppliers, Banks and Financial Institutions, Government and Shareholders. "Continuous innovation, hands-on experience with consumers, timely remuneration of employees and vendors, understanding the various tradeoffs in the business, honouring loan repayment dates and avoiding tax evasion should be the core practices of any business," said Mr. C. K. Ranganathan. He emphasised that an enterprise should be based and built on values and beyond profits. Citing examples from his personal life, he also stated that any company could flourish in the market today only if the owner keeps his personal interests secondary as compared to those of his organization. Mr. C. K. Ranganathan also talked about exploiting the strategic windows that are open to one's business and how strategy and execution are important equally. The entire talk left the audience asking for more and Mr. Ranganathan briefed up the last answer as, "A competitive attitude defies limitation and exceeds expectation." Concluded.
