A Day in the Life of a Great Laker

If you are not sleeping well, if you are having too many assignments to finish, if you have term exams in the space of three days, if you have projects and paper presentations on the same days, and if you are in Chennai, its got to be Great Lakes.

From 2-minute noodles to 6-day subjects, we got it all. Life here runs super-fast. Before you know what hit you, you would be writing an exam or studying for one. One-year MBA is all about pressure and learning to handle it. We believe that if you have to become managers of business readiness, you should know how to handle pressure and manage your time astutely.

But, in spite of all the hoopla about the pressure, we all have time to smile, to share our thoughts, to chill out, to take part in activities other than academics, and to make a difference to the college.

If you think this was not enough, we also do social work as part of our curriculum, which is popularly known here as "karma yoga". All students are required to work in groups of 4 or 5 and take up a cause and pursue it for some time and make some difference to the lives of under-privileged people. The advantage of having one such program cannot be put into words. These are intangibles. Whenever you see an under-privileged kid smile after being taught something valuable, that's when you know that life is more than just money, career and power.

We always have time to celebrate and birthdays are just an example. We never miss an opportunity to celebrate birthdays of fellow Great Lakers and share their joy, be it cutting the cake or giving birthday bumps!

In a way, Great Lakes is our second home. We study here; we eat here and sometimes, well, take a nap too. If there is a place where students are constantly in awe of the faculty on display, its got to be Great Lakes. Great Lakers never have a dull moment in class with students interacting with faculty and deriving the maximum out of very knowledgeable people. If this was not enough, Great Lakers get to interact with some renowned entrepreneurs through Guest Lectures as well, who have made their mark in the world of business. It is almost a dream come true for us given that we get to interact with these people.

The enduring spirit of the students is the fuel on which the institute runs everyday. And the Great Lakes Juggernaut marches on!!!

Let me write about a typical day in the life of a Great Laker...
