IMI Delhi to Organize HR Summit 2008 in August
On 8th & 9th August 2008

With the belief that a confluence of the best minds from the industry and academia is needed to bring the HR challenges of the future into focus, the students of PGDM-HR at IMI, New Delhi have been successfully organizing the HR Summit, an annual event
which invites the participation of eminent persons from the industry, academia, as well as from students of top grade B-schools all across India.

In the past, the summit has hosted the likes of Mr. N. S. Rajan, Director - Human Capital, Ernst & Young, Mr. Stefano Pelle, M.D., Perfetti Van Melle India Private Limited, Mr. A. K. Balyan, Director HR, ONGC, Mr. C. N. Nagakumar, Head (HR), NDPL, Mr. Anil Sharma, VP (HR), ITC, Ms. Rachna Bhanot, Head Strategic HR, IBM Daksh, Mr. Manish Sabharwal, Co-founder, TeamLease, amongst others.

HR Summit 2008 aims to highlight the instrumental role of the Human Resource Function in harnessing the people resources of organizations operating in different sectors of the economy, in order to meet their Business Imperatives. The four broad sectors under the purview of this forum would be Technology (IT, ITeS, Telecom) industry; Manufacturing & Consumer Goods industry; Finance & Insurance sector; and Consultancy sector. The challenges are essentially similar: attracting, managing and retaining talent, to achieve customer satisfaction, thereby driving profits. However, these assume astoundingly different shapes and proportions in different business contexts. Every major industry, therefore, possesses its own dynamics, resulting in its own characteristically defined problems, demanding appropriate solutions.

  • What are these real issues and challenges plaguing the various sectors?

  • How does HR dynamically rise to the occasion in this context, providing the requisite solutions?

In this forum, we intend to go beyond the apparent, and discover the answers to some of these questions. The event will include four sector-specific, and two cross-sector panel discussions.

    Tantra Mantra

We feel immense delight in launching Tantra-Mantra, the Inter B-school Competition at IMI HR Summit '08. The event would be conducted in two stages - Tantra (Paper Presentation Competition), followed by Mantra (Case Study competition).

    HR War

This is the stage to dazzle the spectators with your People Prowess, and walk away with the huge cash prizes.
