It was that time of the year again when alumni and students of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai get together to relive old days, cherish their bonds and brain-storm on the future, and have some good old fun in the deal too. With its strong base of alumni occupying respectable positions in organizations across the world, TISS holds alumni meets in major Indian cities during summers every year. This gives TISSians, who cannot make it to the Annual Alumni Meet on the campus, an opportunity to connect with their alma-mater and friends.

The Alumni of TISS in Bangalore (ALTIBA) meet took place on 24th June 2008 at Hotel Solitaire in Bangalore. The note of nostalgia in the air was unmistakable, as alumni from as early as the 70s mingled freely with people who had passed out of TISS more recently. The evening got off to an interesting start with a fun quiz that had people racking their brains over rhyming couplets composed about TISS trivia. It was the perfect warm-up to get the excitement and bonding going. Then, along with a round of introductions, people took to the floor to regale the audience about fond memories from their time. Peels of laughter mingled freely with a few misted eyes. After that, it was time for an exciting and fun-filled game of musical housie. Not only did it bring the child out in everybody, there were also interesting memorabilia given away as prizes. The high point of the evening, of course, was the video of campus and campus life. Set to lilting music that tugged at heart-strings, the video brought memories flooding back and gave people an opportunity to see how some things had changed while others remained the same over time.

The conversations over dinner were hearty and warm, loud and carefree. Alumni wasted no time in establishing new connections, while at the same time, strengthening the old ones. The evening also provided the present batch, the organizers, to pick up a tip or two from their seniors. Overall, alumni and students of TISS had a wonderful time at ALTIBA '08 and went back with memories that would last with them well beyond ALTIBA '09.
