MICA Organizes Blood Donation Camp in Association with Red Cross

YI (Young Indians) net of MICA has successfully completed the SBI sponsored Blood Donation Camp which was held on 20th in the villages of Shela and Telav. It was a new initiative which YI team came up with to bring about awareness in
the villagers about how they could help others by donating blood, and also that it was safe and hygienic. The YI team had started canvassing about the event a week before the event began, which ensured that residents of the village were aware about the Blood Donation Camp. At a time, when there has been so much blood-shed in the city, it was heartening to see the villagers coming to do their duty.

In this endeavour, the students of MICA were assisted by Dr. R. J. Buch of Red Cross, and social worker, Mr. Niranjan Jain from Sri Ummad Samaj, besides a dedicated team from Red Cross.

Blood Donation Camp Organized at MICA

The next day, the donation camp started with a big bang in MICA campus itself. Posters and banners were visible all over the campus informing students about the Blood Donation Camp, and requesting them to be a part of it. Lots of students came forward to donate blood. Not to be left behind, even the staff and faculty joined in. Mr. Rajesh Sikka, Assistant General Manager, and Mr. Nityanand from SBI also came over to the MICA campus to encourage the students.

The day ended in a happy note with Red Cross gaining around 90 bottles over 2 days and the students and villagers feeling that they had done something worthwhile.

Concluded.
