XIV Annual Convocation Ceremony Held at NITIE, Mumbai

Just as the Independence Day celebrations came to a close around the country, a second round of celebrations started in the lush green campus of one of the premier institutes of our country. It was with immense pride that National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) honored yet another batch of immensely talented students with their degrees.

Held on the afternoon of 16 August 2008, the Fourteenth Convocation Ceremony of NITIE was graced by none other than Former President of India, Bharat Ratna, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, as Chief Guest.

In his esteemed presence, Post Graduate Diplomas in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Industrial Safety & Environmental Management and Information Technology Management as well as Fellows (Doctoral Degree) were awarded to a record number of students in the history of the institute. A total of 240 students, including 5 Fellows, were awarded in this ceremony - a 40% increase in strength over last year. Among other eminent invitees were Shri. Harsh Goenka, Shri S. Behuria, Mrs. Lalita Gupte, Prof. S. P. Sukhatme, Dr. Ganesh Natrajan, Prof. M. N. Nawale, and other members of the NITIE Board of Governors.

Opening the ceremony, Dr. Subhash D. Awale, Director NITIE, reiterated the commitment of the institute towards its mission, "To nourish a learning environment conducive to foster innovations and creativity in productivity and business development." He went on to elaborate upon how the institute continuously strives to nurture a symbiotic relationship with the industry and the business world, while continuously imbibing our commitment towards the society in the students' minds.
