    Goa Institute of Management Organizes Annual National Conference, 'Samriddhi 2008'

    The conference hall at a city hotel in the capital was abuzz with excitement and vibrant new ideas with intellectuals, students and corporate, putting their heads together to churn out 'green' solutions to issues afflicting our environment.

    Every year Samriddhi, an annual national conference organized by students of Goa Institute of Management, addresses issues related to various spheres of development and strives to find practical and viable solutions for industrial growth. This year Samriddhi focused on the concept of Green Infrastructure or Sustainable Infrastructure, its feasibility and the business implications of the same. Chief Minister, Mr. Digambar Kamat, inaugurated the conference and congratulated the students of GIM on this unique initiative.

    The two-day national-level conference was held in association with the Government of Goa in Panjim. The seminar, which was a first-of-its-kind initiative among B-schools in India, drew a large number of delegates from the corporate world and opinion makers from across the country to participate in it. Keynote Speakers included Former Power Minister, Dr. Suresh Prabhu, Dr. Sabharwal and Dr. Sharad Kale of Bhaba Atomic Research Atomic Centre, Mr. Ahmar Raza from the Ministry of Renewable Energy, Mr. Anil Kane, President of World Wind Energy Association and Corporate Advisor to Suzlon Energy Ltd., and Mr. K. Subramanya, CEO of TATA BP Solar, among others.

    Samriddhi has brought forth the possibility of forming partnerships with the government of Goa and corporate houses for sustainable development. The conference threw up various suggestions and debates aimed towards adopting a solution-based approach towards issues concerning the environment.
