    Hindi Fortnight Celebration Takes Off at IIM Calcutta

    The Dean (Programme Initiative), Prof. Saibal Chattopadhyay, inaugurates the Hindi Fortnight Celebrations on September 2, 2008 at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta Campus. The fortnight would be concluded on September 15, 2008.
    The inauguration was followed by quiz competition, participated in by the officers and staff of the institute. There are specific programmes designed for the students also. He suggests all employees to actively participate in the many events that have been lined up during next two weeks.

    Welcoming the employees to the programme, Chief Administrative Officer, Shri Dinesh Varma, in his address, says, "We have to abide by the constitutional obligation in implementing official language policy as per government guideline. To make the programme more participative, various sort of programmes have been designed for the next two weeks. Some of the programmes include Open House Quiz, Dictation Competition, See & Write Competition, Word Translation Competition, etc., for the employees while Antakshari and Extempore Speech are for the students."

    The Valedictory Session would be held on 15th September as well, which includes cultural programme by way of staging a Hindi play, "Durasha", by Little Thespian Group along with prize distribution.

    Shri Varma highlights in saying that this is for the first time the programme has been organized on such a scale and variety.
