Key to Unlock Your Potential: Life @ IPE, Hyderabad

It feels very different to be back in school, we feel nostalgic about the attendance, assignments, etc., remembering our school days. Not that we didn't have this in Engineering college (of course, to answer honestly, guys, how many of you have had full attendance in
Engineering). We did take studies in B.Tech. seriously, but only at the time of exams. But when you join a B-school, then you realize that this attitude must take a reverse turn in order to survive the competition here.

After leading a life full of stress in Intermediate (people who study in coaching centers for entrance exams know the torture), one feels so liberated at Degree level. I completed my B.Tech. and got placed in one of the top MNCs in the world. I attempted CAT, and meanwhile, I joined the company. I worked there as a Programmer Analyst Trainee. I loved the environment there but I always had the desire to do MBA tucked somewhere in the corner of my mind. After working for nearly seven months, I got seat a at Institute of Public Enterprise, and I resigned the job and joined here. Now, let us have a look at the life here.

Before describing about my life here, I want to give you introduction about IPE. It is a premier B-school in the country, established in 1964. The campus is surrounded with greenery. The environment is absolutely pollution-free and very peaceful. Apart from PGDBM (Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management), IPE offers courses like PGDMRM (Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing & Retail Management), PGDBIF (Post Graduate Diploma in Banking, Insurance & Financial Services) and MBA (P.E.) program for working executives. And coming to the faculty, IPE has the best regarding intellectual capital. There are many senior professors, some of them related to ISB, people who have travelled all over the world and contributed to international journals, who created a mark in their respective fields. Almost all of them are involved in research here (IPE has excellent environment for research).

The people here are from different parts of the country. They are from different backgrounds like Engineering, Commerce, Life Sciences, BBA, Tourism and Hospitality Management, etc. It is fun interacting with people of different regions, cultures and attitudes. We can learn a lot from them.

Before I joined IPE, my motto in life was, "Don't mix fun with work." Here I had to change it to "Find fun in work." I joined in June 2008. The first one month, I felt as if I was on a roller-coaster ride, time just flew by. We were fully occupied with classes, seminars, presentations, and last but not least, assignments. The things I enjoyed the most were - case studies. I simply love them. Apart from them, Organizational Behavior and Marketing Management are my favourite subjects. As it is a part of our curriculum in the first semester, we learn French here. I really enjoy experimenting with this language.
