Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai (NMIMS) is proud to present Paragana 2008, its Annual B-school Event. The event shall be hosted from November 15-17, 2008 and is going to be organized in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and

Young Indians (Yi) for the first time in its history.

The theme of Paragana this year is "Metamorphosis - Building Companies to Building Nations". From having started as simple managers, MBAs today have spread their wings far and wide across the entire spectrum of known industries. Managers have been seen building companies that are corporate empires in themselves, but how many have come forward to build the country? Sadly, the answer is negative.

It makes one think: What is the job of an MBA? Is it to build companies and corporate empires, or should they take one step ahead - become builders of the nation?

The fact remains that the heroics of most MBAs end in the corporate world. If "Impossible is Nothing" is the mantra, then it seems strange that they are bound by such invisible chains. There is a need to start a neo-Satyagraha, find innovators who can light up the lives of our nation's people by entrepreneurs who can show everyone that even small is beautiful.

The flagship event of the festival is the war of words, Caviar & Daydreams, a massive competition specially designed to ignite the spark in the corporate event. With a theme as broad and yet, as specific as this, a variety of thoughts and ideas are sure to be exchanged. This one is all about dreaming. Caviar & Daydreams is a test of one's imagination. This is the reality check. If it is not a day-dream, how do we achieve greatness for our nation?

"Paragana '08 is headed to become one of the biggest corporate events of this year. We have already received an overwhelming response from the industry as well as the B-school community. Eminent speakers shall join us for the seminar and panel discussions and a record 300 entries have been received for various events launched till date," says Ms. Deepti Pillai, President, Student Council, NMIMS & Head of Organizing Committee of Paragana.

This three-day extravaganza commences with a seminar where distinguished speakers like Shri. C. B. Bhave, Chairman, SEBI, Shri. Jayant Patil, Minister of Finance & Planning, Government of Maharshtra and Mr. Jignesh Shah, Founder & CEO, Financial Technologies India Limited shall join the event. Over the next 3 days, participants shall be grilled and tested in a series of events that shall leave no subject uncovered, no idea unrecognized and no topic undiscussed. With events like Parijja - the paper writing competition, Pratyancha - the simulation game, Prashnottri and Prashnavalli - the quizzes, case study discussions and so much more, which are sure to keep everyone busy.
