IIM Ahmedabad to Organize its Annual Cultural Festival, "Chaos"

Come 29th January, and the Annual Cultural Extravaganza, Chaos 2009, of IIM Ahmedabad will paint the town red in its biggest, all new avatar. The theme for Chaos this year is 'Khalbali'. The theme is very urban, trendy and depicts pace. It talks

about restlessness and the willingness to revolutionize while laying equal importance on fun. It aims to reflect an attitude of the generation that is ready to take on the world. It is about the khalbali of masti and about the khalbali of change.

The event will kick-start with the classical music night, featuring some of the most respected stalwarts of Indian classical music. This will be followed by three ecstasy-filled days of gala, featuring a whole gamut of events including dance, dramatics, literary events, quizzes, workshops, concerts and informals. The competition will be intense and the prizes huge. Also, after the day’s events there will be dance parties, with some electrifying DJs and a wild crowd.

The star attraction this year will be the Rock Nite, and on show will be some of the biggest guns in the business. To cater to the tastes of the high-brow crowds, there will be a Kavi Sammelan as well.

Chaos also brings back the all-time favourite event, Great Ahmedabad Race, affectionately called the GAR. It involves a race for a treasure in the city of Ahmedabad, patterned like the record breaking TV show, The Amazing Race. Other crowd-pullers include the Fashion Parade, Choreo Nite, and the Musicals.

Recording a foot-fall of 40,000, Chaos, in its previous edition as 'Chaos Nasha' showcased the popular artist, KK, and also the Pakistani fusion band, Fuzon. A popular success, it witnessed participation from over 100 colleges. Over the years, Chaos has attained so pre-eminent a status, that to many in Ahmedabad, it is a festival second only to Navratri. The organizers are confident that they will be able to keep up the tradition and make Chaos Khalbali a bigger success than all its previous editions.
